How this is calculated
Resting energy is estimated as RER = 70 x (weight in kg) ^ 0.75, then multiplied by a maintenance factor for the life stage, activity level and whether your pet is neutered. Daily grams come from the food's calorie density, and cost from a rough price per kilogram for each tier. Wet and fresh foods have far fewer calories per gram, so you feed more grams and the cost rises. Growing puppies and kittens, pregnant or nursing animals, and pets with medical conditions have different needs, so treat the result as a starting point and follow your vet and the package.
